Ukraine’s top military commander, General Valery Zardini, is rumored to have a strained relationship with President Vladimir Zelensky, the Financial Times reported, citing people familiar with the matter. In response, he was told to downplay his public role.

The report noted that chatter about a possible conflict “has swirled in recent months.”
“According to both, this is Russian disinformation designed to create tension within Kyiv’s leadership. However, people familiar with the matter said Zaluzhny was asked to go easy on public appearances,” reported the newspaper.
